As part of Basingstoke Festival, the art department at QMC were asked to put together a proposal that fitted the theme ‘art in unusual places’.
Their response was to create an exhibition of Risograph prints in a disused shop window in Festival Place, selecting 15 pieces (or sections) of outstanding A Level work by graduating students across all disciplines.
These were printed in an edition of 10, on a selection of papers with different variations of circles as a second layer. With no two prints the same, they are printed in multiples and displayed in Festival Place in Basingstoke, challenging ideas of what is art and what is disposable.
The display, which was intended to come down on the 7th July, has impressed Festival Place and they want to keep it up until the end of August giving the Art Department a great showcase throughout the summer.
If you’re in Festival Place at any point in the coming months, please take a moment to look. The display is in the window of an empty shop unit opposite Laura Ashley and it’s great to see the work of the QMC students getting a very public audience.
Well done to all involved.
We would just like to say how incredibly grateful we are to the QMC Foundation for supplying us with the printer that allowed us to produce this work.
