The QMC Foundation has a clear remit to help young people in Basingstoke to advance their learning if their circumstances dictate they need financial help. This obviously comes in all shapes and sizes, and we help people studying at QMC, BCOT and schools across the town. Our remit also allows us to help QMC students who are in further education, and George Severs is a great example.
In 2020, we helped him with funding as he finished writing his PhD thesis at the University of Cambridge and last week, we’ve heard from him with an update on his journey, which saw him gain his PhD in October 2021.
Dr George Severs is now working at Birkbeck, University of London as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, and is also Visiting Lecturer in Oral History at Royal Holloway, University of London.
